"Barn Again" Exhibition by Fay Jones School Faculty
Start Date: 10/18/2013 All Day
End Date: 11/1/2013

Event Description:

An exhibit titled “Barn Again” will be on display from Oct. 18 through Nov. 1 in the Fred and Mary Smith Exhibition Gallery in Vol Walker Hall on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.

An opening reception will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 18.

This collaborative exhibit was created by Frank Jacobus and Marc Manack, both architecture professors, and Phoebe Lickwar, a landscape architecture professor, all in the Fay Jones School of Architecture.

“Barn Again” is an exhibition of three projects that consider visual and experiential records of falling barns in the Ozark region, giving visitors context for comparison and contemplation. The exhibit includes photographs that document traditional barns from the region in various states of degradation, as well as two sculptural and spatial installations that explore transformations and translations of a falling barn’s physical and metaphysical “materials.” When considered together, these works seek to reveal the forces underpinning the barn’s demise, capture its contemporary beauty, and speculate on a possible future for falling barns and the landscapes they inhabit.

This exhibit is free and open to the public.
