Event Description
-The University of Arkansas Student Gallery in Bentonville (sUgAR) is pleased to announce A Seer's Spectacle, a new exhibition showcasing works by Maralie Armstrong-Rial. Maralie’s work is multifaceted, combining e-textiles, performance, sculpture, digital media, experimental music, and video. The exhibition will include hand-drawn QR codes, which link to self-authored texts layered with video projections, as well as drawings and photography. You can view some of Maralie’s work at www.maralie.com Maralie Armstrong-Rial will deliver a lecture about her work on March 1st, at 6pm at the University of Arkansas Fine Arts Center. Room 213.
A catered reception for A Seer’s Spectacle will take place Friday, March 2nd, from 6:00-8:00pm which coincides with Bentonville’s First Friday on the square. The reception, which is free and open to the public, will feature a one-night-only live performance by Humanbeast, Maralie’s music project with husband Eli V Manuscript. The performance will include music from their upcoming release on Load Records..
Humanbeast, created as a series of performance art installations, is described by the artist as “Dark, melodic…beat heavy synth lines… washed in noise and haunting vocals.” Humanbeast mixes sound from both manufactured and DIY electronic instruments. Maralie and Eli, both former members of the Arkansas-based music groups Soophie Nun Squad and Tem Eyos Ki, will be celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary the night of the performance.
This exhibition will be on display from February 23rd - March 11th, with viewing hours Thursday 2pm-6pm, Friday and Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday 1pm-5pm.
