Event Description Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Center, 7:30 p.m. Cactus Truck is a trio from the Netherlands and will visit us as part of a 6-week tour of the United States. Led by saxophonist John Dikeman, formerly of Fayetteville, the group also includes Jasper Stadhouders on guitar and bass, and Onno Govaert on drums. Based in Amsterdam, they are all extremely active on the international improvised music circuit and recently released their first album, "Band New for China," on the Public Eyesore label. From their publicity pack: "Cactus Truck creates startlingly intense music, not merely in terms of volume or velocity but through complete physical/psychological surrender. One can find hints of delta blues, early free jazz, Japanese noise, and no-wave in their music" (www.cactustruck.com) The public is invited to attend and admission is free. |
