| sUgAR Projects Architecture Exhibition: Paul Mosley and Scott McDonald |
|
Event Description sUgAR Projects will host a one-night event featuring work by Paul Mosley and Scott McDonald, two University of Arkansas students in the Fay Jones School of Architecture. Scott McDonald’s work investigates an effort to determine what conditions a drawing must go through to be considered an object. If Architecture exists on paper and in built form, when does a drawing transition to an object? Paul Mosley’s work includes two projects, one being invested in the "interiority" of architecture and the other invested in its "exteriority." Mosley states, “I am an architectural relativist. For me, this means being persistently curious. It means asking critical and intelligent questions. It means keeping an open mind about what architecture is and can do, especially in a discipline that constantly changes. I believe theoretical work in architecture is and always will be invaluable, even when it seems useless. Robert Ryman is teaching me to see. Etienne-Louis Boullee is teaching me to imagine. Louis Kahn is teaching me to act. I read beautiful books, draw maniacal drawings, and write the best I can. I tend to reveal construction, repeat banality, insert anomaly, sculpt sunlight, and reduce to shadows and I am motivated by this notion: (our experience of) architecture manifests itself in what is unseen, unfelt, and unheard. This notion is theoretical, theological, and architectural." The exhibition and reception will be held on Thursday, January 31st from 5 PM-8PM at LaLaLand Art Gallery, 641 W. Martin Luther King Blvd in Fayetteville, AR (located behind in The Art Experience).
