Event Description Tyler Beard cultivates a language utilizing elements sourced from a variety of interests and explores how these various parts come together and react to one another. The artist views furniture design, architecture, landscape, animals and other miscellaneous interests as constantly overlapping and blending together. Recognizing this collaged landscape, his attention focuses on how the components of his daily life physically and visually culminate. These observations arise often on foot from simply looking.
In transit, for example, he might encounter a yellow cement pole resting on top of gritty concrete. Slightly adjacent to this cool gray floor is a faint spray-painted line from a city worker. This crafted reality follows the artist, informing his studio practice.
Tyler Beard was born in Olathe, Kansas. Beard graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Master of Fine Arts degree in studio art. In the summer of 2008 he traveled to Berlin where he was an artist in residence at the Ceramic Center. Beard will have his first solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver in March 2013. He is represented by Robischon Gallery and currently lives and works in Denver, CO.
Mr. beard will be in residence in the department of art February 11 – 28, 2013.
He will be working in the ceramic studios creating work in preparation for an upcoming exhibition in Houston. While in residence, he will attend graduate and undergraduate seminars as well as conduct critiques with the graduate and undergraduate students.
