DEADLINE: Homecoming Court Applications
Start Date: 9/11/2013Start Time: 12:00 PM
End Date: 9/11/2013

Event Description

Registered Student Organizations may nominate candidates for the Homecoming Court through noon on Wednesday, Sept. 11. RSO’s must complete the new registration or re-registration process for 2013-2014 by noon on September 11 to nominate a candidate. Homecoming Court is open to all University of Arkansas women nominated by a registered student organization.

“The Homecoming Court represents school spirit and pride for the University of Arkansas,” said Ellie Kefler, Associated Student Government vice president. “Homecoming Court is one of the University’s most special traditions. The Homecoming Court showcases the top five leading females on the U of A campus. These outstanding young women encompass the Razorback spirit and are featured throughout Homecoming Week, culminating with being featured during halftime of the Arkansas vs. South Carolina football game. Associated Student Government encourages all RSOs to get involved with Homecoming by nominating a young woman to represent the University of Arkansas on the Homecoming Court. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase the talents and initiative of a member or supporter of your RSO.”

Applications will be reviewed and the top 20 applicants will be notified on Friday, Sept. 13. These 20 women will be asked to sign up for a slot in the interview process. Interviews will be conducted September 18 and September 19 in the Arkansas Union, with details to be announced by September 13. The top 10 women will be notified on September 20 and will participate in a second round of interviews on Wednesday September 25.

The 2013 Homecoming Court will be notified by Friday, September 27.  Elections for Homecoming Queen will begin Monday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. and end Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 4 p.m. The student body will elect the Queen through vote.uark.edu. The Queen will be announced at the pep rally on Friday, October 11.

Homecoming Court members will participate in the Homecoming parade, Homecoming pre-game and other events during Homecoming week.

Applications must be accompanied with a resume and photo. Applications are available online at the ASG website or in the Office of Student Activities (Arkansas Union A665). They must be returned to ARKU A665 by noon on Wednesday, Sept. 11. No late applications will be accepted.

Applications for Homecoming Court Escorts will be made available later in September, so RSOs will also have the opportunity to celebrate a male member or supporter.
