Event Description:
Bangladesh Student Organization (BDSO) invites students to attend ‘Bangladesh Cultural Night’ on Sunday 6 PM, October 26 at Reynolds Center Auditorium (RCED 120). Students can get their free tickets on Thursday and Friday, October 18-19 from 12 PM to 2 PM at the Arkansas Union Food Court.
Bangladesh, located in South Asia, came into existence as a county in 1971. The great Ganges-Brahmaputra delta that makes up this country has always been a vibrant area for ages. Before Islamic conquest the region was dominated by other two great philosophies - Hinduism and Buddhism, which gives Bangladesh a unique diverse character making it the 3rd largest Muslim and 3rd largest Hindu country at the same time. The state language Bangla (Bengali) is the 6th most used language in the world and has a rich age-old literary history.
The cultural night includes a presentation on Bangladesh and its culture. There will be folk songs, poems and traditional dances performed by students. Students will be served with traditional Bangladeshi foods after the event.
This event is free to current University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students as supported by the Associated Student Government through the office of Student Activities and funded by Student Activities fee.
