Event Description:
This one-day conference is the latest in a series of events designed to increase awareness of the need for geospatial training for students entering or currently in the workforce.

This collaboration among the Arkansas GIS Users Forum and the OPENGATE project, an NSF-funded initiative, brings together professionals from around Arkansas with community college students and faculty to better explore the needs of tomorrow's workforce.

Parking is available for free at the southeast corner of the intersection of River Market Ave and E 2nd St. Parking will be validated for those who parking in the CALS Open-Air Surface Parking at the northwest corner of River Market Ave and E 2nd St.

Submit an Abstract
If you would like to present at this one-day conference, please register for the conference and then submit your abstract to

Abstracts should be no more than 150 words typed in the body of the email. Emails should include the subject line: "OPENGATE Abstract Submission" to be considered. Abstracts must be submitted by midnight September 30, 2018 to be considered. If selected you will be notified no later than October 12, 2018. Selected abstracts should prepare a presentation or live demonstration no more than 10-15 mins in length.

Suggested Presentation Topics include:

-- How does geospatial tech play a role in non-GIS positions in the field (i.e. field technicians, etc...)?
-- Why is GIS important in your field and what type of skills do future employees need to have to work in your industry?
-- Demonstrations of field-deployed tools for collecting data.
-- Unique applications and cross-disciplinary applications of location-based technologies.
-- Student presentations/projects in locations-based technologies.
-- Educator presentations on how spatial technologies are integrated in your classroom.
-- And more!
