Event Description:

The Ko-ko-ci Chapter of the Arkansas Archeological Society will hold its meeting, Tuesday, December 12 at 7pm at the Arkansas Archeological Survey building. Guest speaker will be Dr. Fred Paillet. He will present “Reflections on a Visit to the La Brea Tar Pits: Taphonomy and Astronomical Time Scales.” The La Brea Tar Pits represent a major site on the bucket list for any archeologist, paleontologist, or paleoecologist. An experienced geoscientist, Dr. Paillet, relates his own personal experiences during and after a mind-bending encounter with this iconic fossil site now situated in the heart of busy Los Angeles.

This event will be held at the Arkansas Archeological Survey at 2475 N. Hatch Ave., Fayetteville, off of Garland Ave., across from the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center. Refreshments served. Free and open to the public. Call 479-283-5720 for more information or directions.
