Dinner with a Doctor

Event Description:
Alpha Epsilon Delta is inviting university students to attend their annual spring formal event “Dinner with a Doctor,” on Tuesday, February 12, 2018 at 6:00pm in the Union Ballroom. At this event, Dr. Linda Worley will be speaking to any students that are interested in continuing their education. The purpose of this event is to provide a formal gathering for all members of the student body to allow these students to hear a positive message regarding the benefits of continuing education and pursuing their dreams, especially applicable to those planning to pursue any career correlating to medicine. This free event is for students only, and no ticket will be required at the doors.

Dr. Linda Worley is an AOA graduate of the Oklahoma University College of Medicine. She completed her residency including a year of child psychiatry at O.U. before joining academic faculty at UAMS in Little Rock. She created the UAMS Student and Faculty Wellness programs, led the UAMS General Hospital Psychiatry Consultation Service and created the ANGELS Women’s Mental Health Telemedicine Consultation Service. Dr. Worley received an American Psychiatric Association (APA) Gold Award for leading a model program for the nation in treating dually diagnosed pregnant and parenting women in a residential setting with their children. Dr. Worley is a Professor of Psychiatry at UAMS and an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt as the MD faculty member in the gold standard, Vanderbilt Center for Professional Health Distressed Physicians Course.

Dr. Worley is the recipient of numerous awards from graduating medical students for significantly impacting their medical education, the UAMS College of Medicine Parent’s Club Award for demonstrating compassion, empathy, integrity, encouragement and character, the UAMS Outstanding Woman Faculty Award for excellence in leadership, mentoring, scholarship and professional achievement, the Robert Shannon MD Award for making outstanding contributions to psychiatric education in the state of Arkansas, and the Association for Academic Psychiatry Lifetime Achievement Award for academic leadership in psychiatry.

She is past President of the Association for Academic Psychiatry and past President of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine (Consultation Liaison Psychiatry) and the 2018 APA Scientific Program Committee Chair.

As Associate Dean of the Northwest UAMS College of Medicine, her mission is to build innovative, highly competitive, cutting edge programs to attract the very best talent for this rapidly growing, beautiful part of the world in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the 5th most livable city in the United States!

This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently-enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students who pay the student activities fee.
