Event Description:
Cru and Christian Graduate Student Fellowship invite students to a lecture by Dr. Mike Strauss, experimental particle physicist, on modern scientific evidence for the existence of God. This event will take place Tuesday, February 5th from 8-9pm in the Reynolds Center. Come hear one of the top Christian scientists speak on why the Christian worldview is scientifically credible. Dr. Strauss is a David Ross Boyd Professor at the University of Oklahoma and helped discover the Higgs-Boson “God Particle” in 2012.
In the pursuit of truth, some have turned to the metaphysical, while others have employed the scientific method. In the present day, much debate continues within and between both the religious and non-religious communities as to whether these two paths of science and religion are compatible with one another. As Dr. Strauss once said, “If you’re not hearing both sides of the story, you’re not being educated, you’re being indoctrinated.” Dr. Strauss’ talk will help encourage both the non-religious and religious to ponder life’s big questions amidst humanity’s proverbial search for truth. His presentation is designed to promote intelligent discussion and healthy dialogue. As college is a time where many students find themselves questioning or reaffirming tightly held beliefs, Dr. Strauss’ talk will provide insight that juxtaposes scientific findings and biblical teachings.
This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students, who pay the student activities fee.
