Event Description:
In collaboration with the University of Arkansas Music Department’s month-long celebration of women in music, this course offers a sampling of three sessions on women musicians taught by three members of the Music Department faculty.

- 3/1 class: Musicologist Dr. Micaela Baranello will address the compositions of Arkansas native Florence Price
- 3/8 class: Music theorist Dr. Wing Lau will discuss rhythmic features in the works of 19th-century pianist-composers Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel
- 3/15 class: Jazz historian Dr. Kim Teal will focus on the career of vocalist Ella Fitzgerald (3/15 class). Themes from the course will be linked to concerts by women composers occurring throughout the month of March featuring U of A students, faculty, and guests.
