Event Description:

Applications now available for the 2019-2020 Distinguished Lectures Committee (DLC) chair/vice chair and member positions.  All students who meet co-curricular requirements are eligible to apply.  Chair applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26.  Member applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1.

The Distinguished Lectures Committee is designed to bring dynamic and pertinent speakers to our campus. There are an equal number of voting student and voting faculty members of the DLC. Eight voting faculty positions come from faculty senate and one voting faculty position represents the Rockefeller Speaker Series. One student member of the committee serves as student chair, and one serves as student vice chair. The remaining voting student members are responsible for planning areas such as hospitality, marketing, analytics, and logistics. Two student members are nominated by the ASG Vice President during the fall semester, recommended by the ASG Student Senate, and appointed by the Vice Provost for Student Affairs.

The lectures coordinated by the DLC are student fee funded through the student activities fee allocated by the programs allocations board.  Upcoming lectures include Tarana Burke on March 28 and Laura Bush on April 18. The DLC has hosted nationally acclaimed speakers including Anderson Cooper, former President George H W Bush, Bill Nye (The Science Guy), former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Shirin Ebadi.  For a full list go to osa.uark.edu.

This application is sponsored by Distinguished Lectures Committee through the Office of Student Activities and is supported by the Student Activities Fee. For questions or for accommodations due to disability please contact the Office of Student Activities, osa@uark.edu or call 479-575-5255. DLC is a program in the Division of Student Affairs.
