Event Description:
You like to read
cozy mysteries. How would you like
to write one? In the first session, Dr.
Maddox, author of various genres
and the mystery The Fabergé Flute,
will define the cozy mystery genre,
discuss its elements, and explore
techniques for creating characters.
Course participants may name a
favorite cozy author and complete
a written exercise in which they
identify the elements of the cozy as
they are handled in a novel by that
author. The second session will focus
on character, setting, and plot
development. Participants will have
the opportunity to create a main
character and sidekick for a cozy
series and write the first paragraph
of the first chapter of an original
cozy, introducing the protagonist
and indicating the central conflict
to come.
