Scholarships to Fund Graduate Study Information Session

Event Description:
The Office of Nationally Competitive Awards will host an informational session discussing scholarships that provide for graduate study on Tuesday, August 27th at 4:00pm in Silas Hunt Hall, room 223 (the upstairs tour room). All students are welcome, but seniors of any major are particularly encouraged to attend.

Bunmi Akinnusotu, Deputy Director of the Rangel Fellowship at Howard University, will be at the meeting to discuss the Rangel, Payne, and Pickering Fellowships, three awards available to students planning careers in the Foreign Service or USAID. Discussion will also include awards that provide for graduate study in the United Kingdom (Churchill, Gates Cambridge, Marshall, Mitchell, and Rhodes), as well as graduate study both domestically and internationally (Fulbright, Knight-Hennessy, and Schwarzman).

University of Arkansas students have had recent success with several of these awards, including the Pickering Fellowship (Samantha Tafoya, honors political science, journalism, and African American studies, ’18), the Marshall Scholarship (Victoria Maloch, honors agricultural business, ’17), the Schwarzman Scholarship (Danielle Neighbour, honors civil engineering, ’16), the Gates Cambridge Scholarship (Ryan DuChanois, honors civil engineering, ’16), and the Fulbright Scholarship (7 Fulbright U.S. Student Program recipients in the past 2 years).
