The Arkansas Integrative Metabolic Research Center (AIMRC) will host Dr. Alan Woessner, AIMRC Imaging & Spectroscopy Core Manager at 12:55 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, in BELL 2267. In this talk, he will discuss the basics of multiphoton microscopy as well as equipment specific tips and tricks for collecting publication-level data.

 

Abstract: Abstract: Multiphoton microscopy is an advanced optical imaging technique that allows for collection of label-free sources of contrast such as two-photon excited fluorescence (TPEF) and fluorescence lifetime (FLIM). Within the AIMRC Imaging and Spectroscopy Core, multiphoton microscopy is primarily used to non-invasively assess the metabolic state of cells and tissue through NADH and FAD autofluorescence. In this technical seminar, the basics of multiphoton microscopy will be discussed, as well as equipment-specific tips and tricks for collecting publication-level data.

 

Biography: Dr. Alan Woessner serves as the manager for the Imaging and Spectroscopy Core. Dr. Woessner was awarded a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering in 2016 and a Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering in 2022 from the University of Arkansas. He specializes in multiphoton microscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), and image and data analysis.
