The University of Arkansas Department of Music is honored to host the Annual Arkansas Clarinet Day on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. All events will be held at the Faulkner Performing Arts Center on the beautiful U of A campus in Fayetteville. Participation and attendance are free, and the public is cordially invited to attend. Advance registration is requested of all participants. The event includes lectures, recitals, and clarinet master classes for all levels, led by our guest clarinetist and clarinet professors from five Arkansas institutions. The morning masterclasses are designed specifically for young clarinetists, and will focus on clarinet fundamentals.

This year’s guest artist is Samuel Ross, an Arkansas born and raised clarinetist in “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. See his photo and bio below. Mr. Michael A. Lomax, clarinet mouthpiece craftsman of Lomax Classic, will present a lecture on clarinet mouthpieces and the care of wooden clarinets. The event host, Dr. Nophachai Cholthitchanta, present a workshop on clarinet/saxophone reed-making and adjusting commercial reeds.

Event exhibitors will include the Lohff & Pfeiffer Co. (Denmark), Royal Global, B. Corbin Clarinet Products, and Lomax Classic. A large selection of professional-student level clarinets and clarinet accessories will be available for participants to try.
