Embark on a mission to find and defeat cyber monsters hidden across campus! Each monster represents a specific cyber threat, and you'll need to solve clues related to cyber security to locate them. Gather your resources, sharpen your cyber senses and let's make the campus a safer place!

During the month of October, locate all five cyber monsters hidden around campus using the clues below, take a picture with each monster and visit the IT Helpdesk in the Arkansas Union to claim your prize. Participants who complete the scavenger hunt will get a water bottle or color changing cup filled with cybersecurity bookmarks as a reminder of how to stay safe in the digital world. This month-long scavenger hunt is designed to educate campus about cybersecurity, while completing a fun challenge and staying cyber safe!

Clue 1: Count Hackula

"Count Hackula thrives on chaos and confusion, especially when you're seeking help. He knows that in moments of frustration, students are more vulnerable to social engineering attacks. To find him, think about the one place where students go when they're locked out of their accounts, need a password reset or face tech troubles. Look where IT experts help troubleshoot everyday digital dilemmas. Count Hackula is lurking nearby, ready to drain your data!"

Cyber Security Tip: Use strong, unique passwords and be mindful of social engineering tactics. Even when you're stressed, never give out personal information without verifying the recipient.

Clue 2: Spoofy Steve

"Spoofy Steve loves to impersonate those we trust, sending fake messages and pretending to be someone he's not. To find him, think about a place where technology and education intersect, where students learn to harness digital tools. His favorite place is filled with glowing screens, but he's not here to learn — he's here to deceive. Seek him in a room where technology reigns, but don't let his disguise fool you."

Cyber Security Tip: Always double-check the sender of any email or message asking for sensitive information. Spoofy Steve thrives on your inattention, so be sure to verify before clicking.

Clue 3: Breachatrix le Phish

"Breachatrix le Phish is no ordinary monster, her sights are set on those who manage money and resources. She's lurking in the place where students go to handle their financial aid, hoping to steal secrets from the unsuspecting. Think of the department that handles scholarships, loans and tuition payments. Breachatrix waits here, casting phishing spells in hopes of catching big fish."

Cyber Security Tip: Be wary of spear phishing attacks targeting departments handling sensitive financial information. Always verify email requests involving money or confidential data before taking action.

Clue 4: Ransomwolf

"Ransomwolf hides in plain sight, disguising himself in the files you rely on for research and study. To find him, think of a place where knowledge is stored, where students come to dive deep into research and academic resources. He's sneaking around in the digital and physical stacks, waiting to pounce on unsecured data. Follow the scent of books, journals and online databases — this is where Ransomwolf lurks."

Cyber Security Tip: Regularly back up your files and be cautious when downloading attachments or clicking links, especially in emails from unknown senders. Ransomwolf loves unprotected data.

Clue 5: Frankenphisher

"Frankenphisher is a creature of many dangers, stitched together from scams, phishing emails and malicious links. He's lurking in a place where students seek academic help, hoping that in their rush to meet deadlines, they'll overlook his warning signs. Think of the spot on campus where students go for tutoring, where guidance and knowledge are freely given. Be on the lookout — Frankenphisher hides in the shadows of helpful resources."

Cyber Security Tip: Be vigilant when opening emails or responding to requests, especially those asking for personal information or offering unexpected help. Frankenphisher's tricks are easy to spot if you know what to look for.
