As part of the October Employment of People with Disabilities Awareness Month,
The University of Arkansas– Office of Accommodation and Accessibility Services (OEOC-AAS) in partnership with the Center for Educational Access (CEA) invites the campus community to attend this voluntary, free virtual Disability Etiquette Training to raise awareness and as part of our celebration during National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October. This webinar will be hosted via Microsoft Teams on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023 2-3 p.m.
The Disability Etiquette Training session is designed to educate participants about:
• The Disability Landscape Laws and Regulations
• Myths and Facts about Disability
• Unconscious Bias towards Individuals with Disabilities
• Inclusive Language
• Best Practices
The presenter is Brittany Knowles, a strategist with Getting Hired, a former social worker, and a nationally recognized curriculum creator, facilitator and consultant. At Getting Hired, Knowles works with private and public sector employers and job seekers with disabilities to promote the hiring of people with disabilities. She serves as a Co-Chair of Safe Space and Ally Development.
Participants can join the training session from their computer, tablet or smartphone by using Microsoft Teams.
