You can find Dr. Batarseh’s abstract and bio attached or below –
Abstract: The increasing frequency of threats to the Food, Agriculture, and Water (FAW) has heightened the need to develop more resilient and secure underpinnings to the systems that support these critical sectors. Artificial Intelligence can make significant contributions to this effort by detecting, predicting, analyzing, and mitigating the rising digital threats, and thus creating novel, robust approaches to create a more cyber-secure and resilient FAW for the world. This talk will present methods and challenges relevant to the mentioned challenges.
Biography: Feras A. Batarseh is an associate professor with the Department of Biological Systems Engineering (BSE) at Virginia Tech (VT). He is the director of both the AI assurance and applications (A3 lab) and the Cyberbiosecurity lab at VT, Dr. Batarseh is also affiliated with George Mason University’s (GMU) School of Systems Biology. Batarseh is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Agricultural and Applied Economical Association (AAEA), and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). He has taught AI courses at multiple universities including University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), Georgetown University, and George Washington University (GWU). Additionally, Batarseh has published multiple chapters and books. His three recent books are: Federal Data Science, Data Democracy, and AI Assurance, published by Elsevier’s Academic Press.
