The department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in combination with the department of Geosciences are hosting a field trip to Gilbert, AR for the 2024 total solar eclipse! We will be departing from campus at 8:00AM on Monday, April 08, 2024. Once we arrive in Gilbert, there will be vendors, food trucks, restrooms, and more to explore. The eclipse viewing will begin at roughly 12:30PM. After the eclipse, participants will be invited to hike a trail on the buffalo river. It is estimated that we will arrive back to campus around 4:00PM. 

NASA-registered eclipse glasses will be provided for free from the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Please come prepared to purchase your own food and souvenirs. 

This event is only for students, faculty, and staff of the department of electrical engineering and computer science and the department of geosciences. If you are not a member of one of these departments, please visit the University events website ( to find an eclipse event near you. 

There are limited spots available! Registration will close after 35 students sign up.
