Hyoyoung Jeong, Ph.D.

Hyoyoung Jeong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Davis. He joined UC Davis in June 2022 after completing his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, where he developed wireless stretchable electronic tattoo (e-tattoo) systems for personalized healthcare monitoring. Prior to his Ph.D., he worked for five years at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology as a researcher and developer in the advanced smartphone hardware and mobile healthcare groups. As a postdoctoral scholar under Professor John Rogers at Northwestern University, Dr. Jeong focused on developing and characterizing wireless, soft, wearable platforms for multimodal clinical-grade biopotential measurement and analysis. Dr. Jeong’s primary field of study explores the intersections of ergonomic wireless system design, advanced manufacturing, and secured and reliable data processing with machine learning. Dr. Jeong’s work has been published in leading journals, including Science (2022), PNAS (2023, 2021), and Science Advances (2021, 2020) as the lead author. Additionally, he has published over 40 peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Medicine, Nature Electronics, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, Biosensors and Bioelectronics, and Chemical Reviews. He also holds 26 patents (15 granted, 11 pending) related to his research area.
