This event is sponsored by the Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I³R).
Diet-sensitive conditions are among the leading causes of morbidity and death in the U.S. This talk explores how “Food is Medicine” strategies can transform clinical care and community health by integrating nutrition into treatment and prevention. Attendees will learn about the science behind food systems, innovative Food is Medicine programs like medically tailored meals, medically tailored groceries, and produce prescriptions, and emerging policy and research initiatives shaping the future of nutrition security and health outcomes. Real-world examples and study findings will highlight how these interventions have been found to improve diet quality, blood pressure, and overall wellbeing. Join us to discover actionable steps for creating a healthier, more sustainable food and healthcare system, one meal at a time.
