About the exhibition:
History will be characterized as pre-internet and post. With the arrival of this mode of mass communication, which is 1 part archival system and 1 part platform, we have gained access to virtually all information and references. We experience all of it in either photo, audio, or the ultimate medium, video. This has caused a flatness to happen, where happenings live and die by the way they are recorded, and the end point of most of today's art is a photo of it on the largest art gallery in the world, Instagram. This Flatness has happened in everything and has broken the idea of objects and art having a genre that fits in its rightful place and time in order of style and purpose. Now, an interior can be decorated by both an AR designed / 3D printed chair as well as a hand made hard wood and leather chair, and be beautiful and engaging. And that's what this show is about. The flattening of frame of understanding as we all become knowledgeable across sweeping topics and historical references.
Objectively Flat is an exhibition taking 2 chairs, with competing aesthetics and process, through the journey of mediums. The show highlights the change in understanding that happens as we spread our ideas across various outlets and into future spaces.
