About this Event
118 W. Johnson Avenue, Springdale, AR
https://olli.uark.edu/Springdale is known for its role in poultry processing, but did you know that Tyson’s started as a produce company? Staff from Shiloh Museum of Ozark History and Downtown Springdale Alliance will lead participants through a walking tour of food production history in Springdale that includes the stories of the beginnings of commerce on Emma Avenue and the railroads. Stops on the tour will bring to life the apple, strawberry, and grape growing and processing, the 1930s migrant labor camp, the buildings, and the people who made our community what it is today. Historic photos and knowledgeable storytellers will make this an engaging look into the history of our city.
Lunch (on your own) will be after tour at Con Quesos in Downtown Springdale. Wear comfortable shoes. Activity Level 3
