mailto:olli@uark.eduArcheologist, Jami Lockhart, offers OLLI participants a presentation that illustrates partnerships and methods being used to fill gaps in our knowledge of African American history in Northwest Arkansas. The research examines past cultural landscapes both within and between specific African American cemeteries in the Fayetteville area. Archival research is supported by the interpretation of aerial and ground-based remote sensing to precisely locate historical features at multiple sites. Integrated technologies will include ground penetrating radar, magnetometry, electrical resistivity, light detection and ranging (LiDAR), digitized historical maps and photos, global positioning (GPS), and geographic information systems (GIS) mapping.
