mailto:olli@uark.eduTraveling across the state of Arkansas one might see steep layers of angeled rock, diamond mines, hot springs, flat rock formations, and even fertile river plains. How did the state become to look the way it does today? Join Dr. T.A. “Mac” McGilvery, Adjunct Professor of Geoscience at the University of Arkansas, as he presents an overview of the geology of Arkansas. He will discuss the five physiographic provinces that make up the state and will examine the large-scale tectonic forces and surface geology. The combination of bedrock types and tectonic history has had a significant impact on the cultural and economic development of our state. Geology is all around us and this course will provide an appreciation for this observation.
Instructor: T. A. (Mac) McGilvery
