About this Event

https://olli.uark.eduInterstate 49 provides a wonderful window into the natural world of the Natural State: The hills and valleys, the distant rock bluffs, the rivers deep in the valleys, the road cuts that expose the layers of rocks right next to you as you cruise onward to your destination. Have you ever wondered why the hills and valleys are there? What are those distant rock bluffs? Where do those rivers flow? Why are the rocks you see in those road cuts layered the way they are?
Instructor of Geology at NWACC and former exploration geologist for Exxon, Chris Moyer, will explore those and other natural features that can be seen along I-49 from Bella Vista (Highway 71, I-49’s extension at the Missouri state line) southward through the plains of Rogers-Springdale, into the hills of the Fayetteville by-pass, and southward into the Boston Mountains down to the I-40 interchange.
