About this Event
1120 W. Maple St., Fayetteville, AR
Jen Frey from the University of Tulsa will be joining us for a lecture over "Suffering, Sacrifice, and Human Flourishing" (Absrtact below)
"Neo Aristotelians virtue ethicists have argued for a thick conception of happiness that is incompatible with wicked action. This has raised important questions about the role of suffering and sacrifice in the “happy life.” What do we say when virtue demands great suffering, even onto death? In this talk, I will address the problem of suffering and suggest ways that a thick conception of human happiness can handle both ordinary and extraordinary human suffering."
