The morning sessions will feature Dr. David Kaplan, head of the USDA-funded Tufts University Center for Cellular Agriculture (TUCCA), discussing cellular agriculture with special focus on cultivated meats, and UA Division of Agriculture’s own  Dr. Sungil Ferreira, who will present on the potential of fungi (mycoproteins) as an alternative protein source. In the afternoon, Dr. Eric Schulze, former FDA regulator and UPSIDE Foods policy chief will lead an esteemed panel of industry, scientific, and legal experts.

Join us as we delve into the economic, cultural, and scientific hurdles that alternative proteins must overcome to be a viable method for feeding a global population that will surpass 10B people by 2050, an increase in both numbers and wealth that will see meat consumption increase 50% or more in the coming decades.
