Theoden “Tay” Netoff is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota. His early research focused on cellular and network pathophysiology to uncover mechanisms of epilepsy in computational and animal models. His recent work centers on optimizing neuromodulation therapy parameters—such as frequency and pulse width—for treating spinal cord injury, epilepsy, chronic pain, and depression. Using Bayesian optimization, his team has developed personalized stimulation strategies that have produced dramatic improvements, even in conditions with no previously effective therapies.
