The Office of Nationally Competitive Awards will host an informational session to discuss the Goldwater, Truman, and Udall Scholarships, three national scholarships for students to apply for as sophomores (Goldwater and Udall) and juniors (Goldwater, Udall, and Truman). The session will take place Wednesday, October 7^th from 4:00-5:00 in Silas Hunt Hall, room 223 (the upstairs tour room). Discussion will cover the basics of each scholarship, as well as specifics about the application process and application tips for each. 

CAREERS IN RESEARCH (STEM MAJORS)—The Barry Goldwater Scholarship & Excellence in Education Foundation offers over 200 scholarships each year to high-achieving sophomores and juniors in STEM fields. Successful applicants have a high GPA (3.8 and up) and substantial research experience at the time of application, as well as a commitment to pursuing a career in STEM research. Goldwater Scholarships provide up to $7,500 to support undergraduate education. We have had over 60 students receive the Goldwater Scholarship, including four last year.

CAREERS IN PUBLIC SERVICE (ALL MAJORS)—The Harry S. Truman Foundation offers 60 scholarships per year to outstanding juniors across the nation. Students of any major who intend to pursue a career in government, non-profit or advocacy sectors, education, or elsewhere in public service are encouraged to apply. Applicants are selected based on academic performance, leadership, and a clear, demonstrated commitment to public service. Truman Scholars are awarded $30,000 to be used for graduate school.  We are a Truman Honor Institution for the number of our students who have received the Truman.

CAREERS CONNECTED TO THE ENVIRONMENT OR NATIVE HEALTH/POLICY (ALL MAJORS)—The Udall Foundation awards 55 scholarships nationally to college sophomores and juniors for leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to American Indian nations or to the environment. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to their chosen field, and plans to pursue a career related to the environment (for environmental applicants) or Tribal Public Policy or Tribal Health Care (for Native American applicants). Udall Scholarships offer up to $7,000 to support undergraduate education.
